A young crow took a walk up a scarecrow’s arm
He said buddy no offense but I ain’t too alarmed
Hey mister ol’ hay head tell me what’s the deal
I’d have to be pretty dang dumb to believe you’re real
And the scarecrow said
I see the cornfield
I see the farmer’s home
I see the world go ‘round
And I’ll see your white bones
The crow said
I can lay in your field and eat corn
There’s nothing you can do
I can stand on your head and I can go coo coo
I can pull straw out of your shirt if I want to
And drop it down from the sky so blue
The crow said you know ya talk pretty big
for some guy tied to a pole
But I ain’t tied buddy when I wanna go I just go
And I’ll ride on the afternoon wind, fly across the land
But he didn’t see the farmer in the shade
With a gun in his hand
